Critical Innovations Presents at the State of the Technology Meeting: Neurotrauma Diagnosis, Monitoring, and Assessment in Washington, D.C.

The U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command’s (USAMRDC) Combat Casualty Care Research Program (CCCRP) Neurotrauma Portfolio and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), with support of the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC), hosted a State of Technology meeting focused on non-invasive neuroassessment tools last month in Washington, D.C. The goal of the meeting was to understand the state of technology to better diagnose traumatic brain injury (TBI) across all stages of care, to gain insights into monitoring patients diagnosed with TBI, and to identify innovative new products that could be developed for the diagnosis, assessment, and monitoring of TBI.

As part of a lighting round session at the State of Technology Meeting, Dr. Ross Donaldson, President & CEO of Critical Innovations, delivered a presentation on the BurRapid™ Intracranial Pressure Monitor Attachment. This attachment to the BurRapid™ Intracranial Access Platform serves to task shift already-established evidence-based neurosurgical care out of the operating room and into the hands of far forward providers at point-of-need. The BurRapid™ ICP Monitor Attachment utilizes the established gold standard measurement of TBI severity (i.e., ICP), while providing enabling technology to make direct ICP monitoring minimally-invasive and easy to perform in the far forward environment. This medical technology is INVESTIGATIONAL and NOT AVAILABLE FOR COMMERCIAL SALE. This technology has NOT been approved by the FDA for human use.
